I really wish someone could explain to me how to write good riffs which lead to a really good songs.

All I want to do is write unique sounding songs that make me pause and go, holy shit I just wrote that. I can’t seem to wrap my mind around writing music. Whenever I attempt it it always comes out as a silly sounding scale with notes that don’t belong at all. Then I always end up playing some piece of a song I already know. I really hope this electronic music class next year at Harrison helps me write music. As technically that’s what it’s for.
